Ambient Pressure
Ambient pressure is the pressure of the environment surrounding a person or object at a given moment.
Ambient pressure describes the total pressure exerted by the surrounding environment, which at sea level equals approximately 1.0 ATA. Inside a hyperbaric chamber, the ambient pressure is deliberately increased above normal so occupants experience a higher-pressure environment. This elevated ambient pressure is the mechanism that allows more oxygen to dissolve into the body's fluids during a session.
