PSI (Pounds per Square Inch)
PSI is a unit of pressure equal to one pound of force applied over one square inch of area.
PSI, or pounds per square inch, is a common unit for expressing pressure in the United States. Normal atmospheric pressure at sea level is about 14.7 psi, which equals 1.0 ATA. Hyperbaric chamber pressures are often described in ATA, but psi provides an alternate way to understand the gauge pressure above ambient.
